About Mass Academy of Martial Arts

Guro Darrell M. Smith is the owner and head instructor of KSK Boston - The Mass Academy of Martial Arts, located in East Bridgewater, MA. approx. 45 min. outside of Boston proper.

With an extensive background in Ed Parker's American Kenpo (4th degree black belt), Smith was looking to expand his knowledge.  In 2013 he attended an FMA/JKD seminar taught by Guro T. Kent Nelson.  That same year he traveled to Michigan to attend Nelson's 2013 Weapons Camp, and knew immediately that he wanted to be part of the family.  Guro Darrell has made annual pilgrimages back to KSK headquarters ever since.

Smith hosted Guro Kent for a seminar in 2014, and the two became fast friends.  He began training through KSK's original online learning center and through DVD's.  With time he grew into hosting Guro Kent three times a year.  One seminar focusing on FMA, one on JKD, and one on BJJ.  In addition, every time he hosts a seminar or travels to attend a training camp in Michigan, Darrell always reserves two days for his own personal private training with Guro Kent.

In 2017 Darrell was awarded the title of "Guro" in Armas-Kali / Filipino Martial Arts.  He also holds the title of Joshu level-2 (Associate Instructor) in Jeet Kune Do Concepts, and in 2022 became the first affiliate to earn a Blue Belt in KSK's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu curriculum (endorsed by Professor Chet Schemahorn, 4th degree Black Belt, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.)
